JCB heads to Las Vegas for the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to demonstrate the world's first floating mobile phone, the JCB Toughphone Tradesman.
First held in New York in 1967, the CES show today is the world's largest consumer electronics tradeshow and attracts more than 100,000 attendees and over 2,000 exhibitors each year.
Alongside top technology companies including Microsoft and household names such as the Ford Motor Company we are thrilled at this opportunity to show off our range of Toughphones amongst a "whirlwind of gadgets and electricity".
Don't miss us in South hall, booth 26314 and our JCB digger between 6 and 9 January!
Watch what happened when the JCB Toughphone range endured a full day of gruelling tests at JCB HQ, Staffordshire....
The world's first floating phone was unveiled on Tuesday 2 November.
Makers of the JCB Toughphone Tradesman said it is fully functional after being submerged in water, and making its way to the surface.
The buoyant updated version of the Toughphone, which was originally launched two years ago and made its way into the Guinness World Records Book, was put through a similar cruel and vigorous test emerging completely unscathed.
It can operate after being dragged behind a JCB GT at 120mph, buried in 2 tonnes of rubble and kept floating on the water for six hours.
The Dragon himself, Peter Jones came out of his den on Tuesday 2 November to launch the new JCB Toughphone range. Held at the Old Truman Brewery, once London's largest brewery, it made the ideal 'industrial' setting for the launch.
The aim of the day was to demonstrate how tough the Toughphone range can be and to highlight the unique capabilities of each handset; from the world's first floating mobile phone to the ultimate communicator with two-way radio.
